Even though GTA 6 isn’t out yet, fans are already buzzing about what its Metacritic score could be.
It seems everyone is gearing up for a heated debate as soon as the reviews drop.
When Rockstar Games finally launches the next installment in the legendary Grand Theft Auto series, it’s bound to dominate social media and gaming forums everywhere.
Among the many discussions, one of the hottest topics will undoubtedly be its review scores.
Could GTA 6 Make History on Metacritic?
Some gamers have already started setting high expectations. One Reddit user asked, “Does GTA 6 have a shot at becoming the first Metacritic 100 game?”
For reference, GTA 5 scored an impressive 97, which is still one of the highest ratings ever.
Currently, the top-rated game on Metacritic is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with a near-perfect score of 99.
Released in 1998, Ocarina of Time is widely considered a masterpiece, especially for its time.
But getting a perfect score of 100 on Metacritic is no small feat.
It would require every single reviewer on the platform to give the game a maximum rating, a challenge even for a game as highly anticipated as GTA 6.
Gamers Share Their Predictions
Many fans believe GTA 6 has a strong chance of getting close to perfection, but there’s skepticism about it reaching 100.
One Redditor pointed out, “Ocarina of Time (99) and SoulCalibur (98) have the highest scores, but they only have around 25 reviews each. Modern AAA games get 100-150 reviews, making it much harder.”
Another added, “I’d bet on a 96 or 97. It might score slightly lower than GTA 5 and RDR2 due to potential criticism of the story.”
Others think external factors might hold GTA 6 back.
Some worry about review-bombing by unhappy players, while others believe certain outlets might give lower scores just to grab attention.
As one fan put it, “With modern gaming, it’s nearly impossible. Someone will always give a low score for clicks.”
When Can We Expect GTA 6?
As of now, GTA 6 is rumored to release in late 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
While the wait feels long, the hype and debates surrounding the game show no signs of slowing down.
