It’s getting clearer now. The more I read the news and scroll through social media, the more I think GTA 6 won’t meet the expectations.
Let’s just think about the numbers. GTA 5 has sold over 200 million copies all over the world. That’s crazy.
Rockstar Games and Take-Two made about $8.6 billion from it. It first came out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, and later on PS4, and Xbox One, and now for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. And PC players are still playing it like crazy, too.
Not many games have come close to this. Maybe Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog? But really, it’s hard to think of others.
To make it easy to understand, more people have bought GTA 5 than there are people living in countries like Russia or Bangladesh.
It’s gonna be super hard for GTA 6 to sell that much, but if any game can do it, it’s this one. But the fanbase is really excited—maybe too excited. And Rockstar can’t match everything people are hoping for.
Imagine working at Rockstar Games right now. The stress must be through the roof. Every day, tons of articles, Reddit posts, and tweets come out about GTA 6. Fans are picking apart the 2022 trailer and leaks with a fine-tooth comb.
They even analyze things like how many colors are in the trailer, if Vice City has parking spaces for disabled people, or if the time of day will affect traffic. One person even counted every car in the trailer!
Honestly, this kind of picking apart never ends well. People are spending hours on Reddit and Twitter, looking for tiny details and creating ideas about what the game will be like.
But the thing is, the more you think about it, the more likely you’ll be disappointed when the game actually comes out.
Sure, the game will look great, and the story will be amazing. If the gameplay is even just a little better than GTA 5, it’ll be a success.
But it’s probably never going to match what’s in people’s heads. If you expect every tall building to have an interior to explore or think that the grandma in the trailer will be a key character, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment.
But hey, if it’s fun for you to speculate, go for it! I’m not here to ruin anyone’s fun. Just don’t be surprised if GTA 6 doesn’t match every little thing you’ve imagined.
Even people from Bethesda have warned about this, saying that too much hype can lead to letdowns. And that’s happening with GTA 6.
The game will probably be fantastic, but it’s nearly impossible to match the wild ideas fans have in their minds.
Rockstar Games is very secretive, and while it would be nice if they shared more details, it’s also easy to see why they don’t. If they reveal too much, it’ll only make the hype worse. It’s a tough spot.
Looking at their history, though, Rockstar makes great games. GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, and GTA 5 all scored incredibly well on review sites.
So, they have a solid track record. And let’s not forget about Red Dead Redemption or even older games like Bully—they know how to make good stuff.
As 2025 approaches, we’ll start to see more trailers, screenshots, and interviews.
And while I’m confident the game will be amazing, it still might not live up to what some fans have dreamed up over the last decade.
In the end, we just have to wait and see. But maybe, we should lower our expectations a bit.
