Fans have been eagerly waiting for any news about the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, so it’s no surprise that the release of the GTA 6 trailer has been closely analyzed. However, some fans might be getting a bit too critical.

Recently, one fan listed several “mistakes” they noticed in the trailer, including something as small as visible polygons.

These complaints were so detailed that X (formerly Twitter) Community Notes were added to them (by the way, if you’re thinking about upgrading your gaming setup before GTA 6 drops, check out our list of the best game consoles).

One user on X broke down a long list of what they saw as errors in the GTA 6 trailer. Their complaints included things like hair moving too slowly and “visible polygons” on Lucia’s arm and a car seat.

The fan mistakenly blamed these polygons on “low-res” textures, even though textures and polygons aren’t the same thing (in fact, someone pointed out that the texel density is quite high at around 10px/cm in the image).

The fan also criticized duplicated elements in scenes, something that has been a common practice in game development for a long time to save time and money.

Additionally, they complained about the lack of shadows in certain places, even though those areas wouldn’t have shadows in real life either (and let’s remember, GTA 6 is still just a game).

More experienced gamers and those familiar with video game design were quick to dismiss many of these concerns.

“How would textures affect polygons? What hardware do you think can run a game with perfectly smooth geometry?” one person asked.

Another replied, “It’s footage of an unfinished game; just being able to see it in an official capacity is good enough.”

Another user simply commented, “Oh no… GTA 6 is… a video game!”

Some of the issues mentioned, like mesh clipping on clothes, are more understandable but are still acceptable given the current state of technology.

It’s important to remember that GTA 6 is a game, and it’s not even finished yet. The complaints remind us of when film directors say there’s no CGI in their films, which often shows a misunderstanding of the hard work digital artists put into their craft.

GTA 6 won’t be released until next year, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. From supposed clues in Rockstar’s anniversary logo to debates over the GTA VI logo, fans are finding plenty to talk about as they wait for the game’s official release.
