However, a popular YouTuber isn’t ready to give up just yet.
TGG, a Grand Theft Auto content creator, has reignited the GTA 6 Moon Theory, claiming Rockstar Games might be teasing the second trailer’s release date through the phases of the real Moon.
What Is the GTA 6 Moon Theory?
The GTA 6 Moon Theory suggests that Rockstar Games is using the Moon’s phases to hint at trailer release dates.
This idea first gained traction when fans thought November 22 was the big day. Unfortunately, no trailer arrived on that date.
TGG recently revisited this theory and pointed out that the original speculation missed some important details.
Fans had compared the Moon in a GTA Online image to the real Moon’s phase on November 22.
While both showed a Waning Gibbous Moon, they didn’t align perfectly.
Why December 20 Could Be the Date
TGG explained that the Moon in the Vinewood sign teaser image from October 2023 matched the real Moon on December 1—the same day Rockstar revealed Trailer 1.
This has led fans to believe Rockstar might use a similar hint for Trailer 2.
The next time the Moon matches the teaser image is December 20, which also happens to be a Friday.
Fans know Fridays are Rockstar’s go-to days for big announcements.
If this theory holds true, the second GTA 6 trailer might even drop on December 24.
While it’s close to Christmas, Rockstar has released content around this time before—like the new screenshots for GTA 5 on December 24, 2012.
Is the GTA 6 Moon Theory Reliable?
TGG seems convinced, but not everyone is buying it. Many feel it’s still a bit of a stretch.
However, the theory does offer an interesting way to keep the excitement alive as we wait for Rockstar to make an official announcement.
One thing’s for sure, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO promises that GTA 6 will be “extraordinary” and worth the wait.
