A new open-world game from a fresh studio is already making waves, giving fans vibes of a mix between Grand Theft Auto and Mafia.
Getting compared to Grand Theft Auto is something many game studios dream of, especially when they’re just getting started. This is great news for Liquid Swords, a new game studio founded by Christofer Sundberg, who also co-founded Avalanche and created the Just Cause series.
Sundberg recently shared some screenshots of their upcoming AAA game on social media, which has already sparked interest.
We know it’s going to be an open-world game, and based on the images, it feels like a blend of GTA 6 with a touch of the Mafia games.
The screenshots show trash-filled streets, New York-style apartments, underpasses, and even one with a pool of blood and a lifeless hand.
Although the screenshots have a gritty vibe, the photorealistic graphics still look stunning and raise excitement for this mysterious project.
In an official Tweet, Liquid Swords said, “Our world is building. Our city is growing. Our streets are coming to life.”
While we know it will be open-world, other details are still under wraps, including the game’s title.
However, with this game likely heading to the PlayStation 6 and the next Xbox console, it’s expected to push the limits of what we’ve seen so far.
It’s also safe to assume the game will use Unreal Engine 5, so with that and the power of future consoles, this game could be an exciting release.
But, despite the comparisons to GTA, Liquid Swords has made it clear they’re not trying to compete with GTA or make a GTA-style game. So, we’ll have to wait and see where they take this project during development.
