The clip first appeared on social media, posted by various GTA 6-focused Twitter accounts, such as @GTA6_x.
The Twitter user @GTA6_x commented on the video, pointing out details that made it look legitimate:
- Car brands seemingly matched the GTA 6 universe.
- The Rage engine’s motion blur appeared to be in use.
- The coordinates in the clip aligned with the Portofino Tower.
- The user interface (UI) looked authentic, including a CCTV-style template and debug menu.
With all these convincing elements, it’s easy to understand why so many fans fell for the hoax.
The Truth Revealed
The mystery behind the clip didn’t last long, though.
A Discord user named “Long Long Time” stepped forward and admitted to creating the fake footage.
They even shared proof on the r/GTA6 subreddit, putting an end to the speculation.
While many praised the effort, others were less impressed. Some Reddit users vented their frustration:
“Peak unemployed activities,” joked one user, UnluckyGamer505.
Another user, dominator-23, quipped, “You could jumpscare that guy by showing him a job application.”
