Forget about waiting for GTA 6 because a new Grand Theft Auto movie is on the way!

Fans have been asking for a movie based on Rockstar Games’ popular series for years, and now, it’s finally happening. But here’s the twist—it’s not exactly what you’d expect.

Many fans hoped to see a Grand Theft Auto film set in iconic cities like Liberty City, Vice City, or Los Santos, which are all central to the game series.

Although rumors have swirled over the years about Rockstar Games potentially making a live-action GTA movie, nothing has been confirmed.

As of now, there’s no official sign of such a project from Rockstar or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

However, a Grand Theft Auto movie is indeed coming—but it’s fan-made and not from Rockstar itself.

According to a report from Dexerto, the film is called Grand Theft Auto Hamlet, and it’s entirely created within GTA Online. Yes, you read that right—a documentary shot 100% in the game!

As the title suggests, Grand Theft Auto Hamlet draws inspiration from Shakespeare’s famous play, Hamlet, but with a modern twist.

The story follows two characters, Sam and Mark, as they navigate life during the COVID-19 pandemic. This unique project has even won an award at the SXSW festival!

What’s more interesting is how the movie was made. Not only was it filmed by playing GTA Online, but many of the camera angles were captured using the in-game mobile phone.

The trailer also humorously features the filmmakers getting interrupted by other players in GTA Online, adding to the fun.

Though there’s no official release date for Grand Theft Auto Hamlet, it’s expected to drop in 2025—the same year GTA 6 is rumored to be released. The film will be available on streaming platforms like MUBI.

As for GTA 6, it will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC version to be announced later.
