GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games ever, so it’s no surprise that fake leaks pop up online all the time.
Earlier this month, one particular “GTA 6 gameplay leak” went viral, but it has now been officially debunked by the YouTuber who created it.
The fake leak showed a small part of Vice City, where the new protagonist, Lucia, walked up to a purple Coquette and drove off, all in first-person view.
Although the video gained a lot of attention, dedicated GTA VI fans quickly pointed out its flaws, calling it out as fake.
The creator of this viral video is a YouTuber named 12th Hour.
He has over a million followers and is known for using his development skills to remake and remaster popular games. This time, he decided to fool the internet with a fake GTA 6 Gameplay leak.
In a recent video on his channel, 12th Hour explained how he pulled off the hoax.
He spent days finding the perfect Miami location, bought a “bootleg” Lucia model online, and put in a lot of work to make the video look convincing.
Despite the effort, fans quickly realized it was a fake, although it still racked up over seven million views.
The video was also discussed on Reddit’s r/GTA6, where fans expressed confusion about anyone falling for the prank.
One top comment read, “Wait, did people actually think this was real? LOL.” Another user added, “Only little kids got fooled by this.”
With GTA VI’s official release just around the corner, hopefully, we’ll get a second trailer soon—so we can stop dealing with these “hilarious pranks.”
