Since the release of GTA III in 2001, the Grand Theft Auto series has become much more than its early games. Now, it’s a huge name in the gaming world.
Each new GTA game has gotten bigger in every way—more popular, with larger maps and more gameplay features. So, we can expect GTA VI to be just as impressive.
Before Rockstar Games officially revealed GTA VI with its first trailer, the game faced many leaks from early versions that didn’t fully represent what the final game would be like.
The leaks included everything from gameplay details to characters and plot points, causing a lot of stress for the developers.
One major rumor from these leaks is that the final version of GTA VI might have a massive install size of 750GB, with an estimated 400 hours of gameplay.
While 750GB sounds wild, it’s not impossible. We’ve already seen games hit 200GB or more.
Given that GTA VI will probably have one of the biggest maps ever and tons of features, it wouldn’t be shocking if the game ends up being much larger than 200GB.
As for the 400 hours of gameplay, that’s more believable. In GTA V, you can easily spend hundreds of hours in the single-player campaign, not to mention GTA Online.
However, a leaked document said to be around 60 pages long suggests that the developer build of GTA VI was about 80GB.
But as Reddit user Denso95 points out, this early version is likely missing a lot of features and would look visually less impressive without the final textures.
Based on this, Denso95 predicts GTA VI could end up being around 200GB instead of the massive 750GB people are talking about.
That sounds much more reasonable, especially considering how the game will probably grow as patches and updates are added.
As of now, GTA VI is expected to be released in late 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no PC release date announced yet.
