Rumors of a possible GTA 6 delay are spreading, leaving fans both confused and frustrated.
Last week, an industry insider claimed that the release of GTA 6 could be pushed back to 2026. This news understandably worried many gamers who have been eagerly waiting for the game.
Thankfully, the rumor didn’t gain too much momentum, as another update on GTA 6 divided fans.
Since Rockstar Games announced GTA 6, fans have mostly been in the dark, with just one official trailer and little confirmed information. This has led to endless speculation and worry, especially about potential delays.
Now, yet another warning about a delay has come up, leaving fans even more annoyed.
Former Rockstar employee, Obbe Vermeij, who worked on GTA III, shared on Twitter that Rockstar has known about a delay for months but hasn’t said anything publicly.
“The decision to delay GTA 6 was made about four months before the original release date,” Vermeij said. “Rockstar probably won’t know if they can still release the game in 2025 until sometime around May.”
He didn’t stop there. Vermeij added, “GTA 6 will sell for more than 10 years, and Rockstar has no competition to worry about. They won’t release it until they’re 100% happy with it, no matter what the trailer said. I don’t have any inside info though, and I haven’t talked to anyone.”
Because Vermeij has experience with Rockstar, fans are taking his words more seriously than usual rumors. However, it’s worth noting that he left Rockstar about 15 years ago so a lot may have changed since then.
Even though Vermeij clearly stated that he hasn’t spoken to anyone at Rockstar, many fans are still treating his comments as fact.
“Knowing about a delay over a year before the expected release is wild,” tweeted GameRoll.
Another user asked, “How can you say it’s delayed if you haven’t spoken to anyone or don’t have any insider info? Is this just based on past releases?”
Fans are left feeling uneasy. While most say they understand why delays happen, there’s still nervousness about whether or not GTA 6 will actually come out on time.
Until Rockstar officially addresses the situation, these delay rumors should be treated as just speculation.
